Students.

170,000 students attend 15 institutes of higher education in Krakow. The largest of these institutes is Jagiellonian University, with over 44,000 students. Needless to say, students are integral to Krakow's vibrant and youthful atmosphere.

The academic year is divided into two semesters: October till the end of January and mid February until the end of June. Courses are completed with an examination and/or a paper. In order to achieve a Masters degree, students must complete a final thesis based on research as well as pass the final examinations.

Despite its reputation for a high standard of academia, Krakow certainly isn't all work and no play! Student life pulsates throughout the city and can be found in the nooks and crannies of the old town bars and cellar venues as well as in the Jewish district's modern cafes, galleries and clubs.
