The Juliusz Slowacki Theater was opened in 1893. It is not only famous for its sophisticated, high-class theater performances, but also for its eclectic architecture, which is based on the Opéra National de Paris.
A further specialty is the huge curtain inside the four-storied building. It was painted by Henryk Siemiradzki, a painter who mostly chose the subjects of his pictures from the Greek and Roman antiquity, in 1894. During the intervals of the performances the curtain falls and a scene with the god Apollo in the center can be admired.
The theater presents both Polish and international plays, it comes up with serious dramas and comedies as well as musicals. The excellent ensemble always provides high-class experiences for the audience.
