The Historical Museum of Krakow is split into several divisions that chronicle the history of the city. The annals include the history of the Jewish community in Krakow, the history of the city's theatre and the history of the shooting fraternity.

The Historical museum houses city maps dating back to the 16th century; paintings, prints and photographs by Polish artists; weapons from the 14th - 20th century; commemorative artefacts from the 19th century Polish uprisings, World War I and II; artefacts from the theatre and unique Jewish treasures. 

Krzysztofory Palace, at Rynek Główny, is the museum's main location. Divisions of the museum are found at the Town Hall Tower, The Barbican, The Silesian House, Under the Cross House, The Jewish Museum at the Old Synagogue, Celestat, The Artistic Salon of the District of Zwierzyniec, Hipolitów House and the Museum in Nowa Huta.
