Krakow’s pedestrianised old town is a veritable Aladdin’s cavern stuffed with little quirky shops, independent stores and larger retail shops.
Unfortunately, more and more department stores and brand names are coming in and taking over craft and speciality shops. However, the historical Sukiennice shopping complex and the Cloth Hall arcade are not to be missed if you are in search of some original Polish handcrafts or folk art to take home with you.
If you need a break from the permanent buzz of the old town then a stroll down to the old Jewish district will be a welcome reprieve. Antique shops, galleries and local art stores are scattered throughout the hip Kazimierz district.
